i had to do a lab the other day where i got to use this awesome machine, and i decided that the opportunity was just too good to pass up. so i made friends with the person who runs this thing and now i get to bring in what ever i want and take pictures! awesome yes? yes.

but just to clarify, the SEM doesn't really take pictures. what it does [in super simple terms cuz i don't want to write a many page paper] is it shoots charged electrons threw a focusing disc, then the focused electrons are intensified as they pass threw electromagnetic coils. they then wrap around the surface of the object and digitize a three dimensional representation of it.

now you kno! and knowing is half the battle!
